Closed-Loop Coordination for Community Dental Care
UDM is developing administrative and technology workflows to support dental practices serving Veterans and participating in IHS, Tribal, and Urban Indian health programs.
The goal is simple: reduce the risk that patients, authorizations, documents, claims, or follow-up tasks are lost between disconnected systems.
VA Community Care Workflow Support
Potential capabilities include:
- Referral intake and status tracking
- Eligibility and authorization verification support
- Veteran outreach and appointment scheduling
- Authorized-service and expiration-date tracking
- Request-for-services and additional-authorization workflow support
- Clinical-document and radiograph coordination
- Claim-status and reconciliation support
- Exception queues and follow-up lists
- Case-completion documentation and closure tracking
Where permitted by VA, applicable law, patient authorization, and approved technical connections, UDM may support the exchange of authorized information and treatment-completion documents through approved interoperability methods.
UDM does not determine Veteran eligibility, issue VA authorizations, make VA payment decisions, or replace VA clinical or administrative authority. Participating providers remain responsible for clinical care, documentation, coding, and compliance with applicable program requirements.
